Kate Neave is a curator, art writer and creative producer with 10 years experience working with contemporary artists. She has a reputation for initiating and overseeing groundbreaking projects and nurturing some of the most exciting upcoming talent alongside established names. She has a passion for working with a diverse selection of artists and championing underrepresented talent. Kate is based in Brighton and London, UK.
Founder, Ellipsis Prints
Kate is the founder and curator of Ellipsis Prints which commissions limited edition Risograph prints from the most talented women and non-binary artists in the UK. Kate oversees this project from the initial artist selection process, to creating the prints, organising exhibitions and promoting the brand. These commissions support artists’ careers by funding their training in printmaking and the production of their prints as well as encouraging the development of their careers through visibility, sales and support. The prints are held in a number of national and international collections including Soho House and the Pan Macmillan collection.
Curating
Kate curates independently and also in collaboration with galleries and creative partners. She most recently curated ‘Parasomnia’ an exhibition of disturbing and surreal digital art for The Curated and ‘Performance Anxiety’ an exhibition challenging the restrictive social, political and cultural discourses associated with the body for Verse. Kate has curated for Soho House and Manifesta and regularly creates exhibitions with Ellipsis Prints. Studio Manager, Phoenix Art Space
Kate is studio manager at Phoenix Art Space in Brighton. She supports over 100 artists who have their studio space in this vibrant art centre, studio complex and exhibition space in central Brighton.
Art writing
Kate regularly writes features on contemporary art for Twin Magazine and Hero and Heroine Magazine. Her work is also featured in Epoch, Elephant, Dazed, Public Offerings ltd, Refraction Festival and the Evening Standard. She also writes for galleries and contributes to catalogues and books. Most recently she wrote on photographer Rinko Kawauchi for Night Fever published by Shoestring Publishing.
Creative Production
Kate is experienced in working with brands to oversee creative projects from brief through to completion, ensuring the team deliver creative to the required quality, on time and within budget. As Art Director at music and visual art platform OpenLab she has been responsible for developing an ambitious visual art identity from scratch. She has created an extensive selection of features on contemporary artists, created a visual image database, initiated multiple artist collaborations and established a community. Most recently she launched New Mycelium Network, bringing together cutting edge music talent with some of the most exciting names in visual art to create new audio-visual work together. The new works launched at an immersive AV party with DJ’s and 270 degree AV sets at Aures, London. Kate has also worked with Ray Ban and the National Trust to realise creative projects.
Art Sourcing
Kate regularly helps individuals and businesses find artworks for their collections, offices and residential spaces through her boutique firm Archipelago. With an in depth knowledge of the contemporary art scene and excellent contacts across the art world she is well placed to help curate the perfect collection.

Background
Kate holds an MA in History of Art from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute in London. She has previously worked at Southard Reid Gallery, Josh Lilley Gallery and Modus Operandi Art Consultants as well as with the Luciano Benetton collection and Soho House art collection.
